Ocean Class Tug:  Treasure Coast   This vessel operates along the eastern seaboard of the US.  Its primary use is to haul cement barges for a large aggregate company.  In order to monitor Fuel Consumption and Vessel Energy Efficiency, both main engines, Caterpillar 3512B’s were equipped with Kral Fuel Flowmeters and real time electronic displays that allow the Captain to adjust the engine speed to find the most efficient throttle position to operate the vessel based on his current sea conditions.

Seaspan Intermodal – Princess Superior

Seaspan Intermodal  -  Princess Superior

This vessel  is operated by Seaspan Intermodal.  The Princess Superior is a Ferry Vessel and that carries on highway trucks and trailers between Tilbury Terminal to Schwartz Bay in British Columbia

Engines:

 Main Engines are Twin EMD 12V-645 E3  Two Stroke Diesel Engines

Rated @ 2150 Horsepower for each engine

Fuel Consumption:  39 gallons per hour for each engine at Load

 

Flowmeters:

Kral OMG20 Series Flowmeters were installed on the Supply Fuel and Return Fuels lines on each engine.

Each meter was equipped with:

2- BEG43 Directional Sensors

1- EET21 Temperature Sensor, including UZA11 Junction Box.  Each flowmeter arrangement was equipped with a 3 – Valve Safety Bypass system.  The OMG Flowmeters from Kral are ABS certified.  That was required for this operation.  This installation was included as an integral part of the Krill System Fuel Management solution package.  Please see our link regarding the Krill System.

This vessel is a passenger and vehicle ferry for the State of Alaska Marine Highway System.  During her operational season she travels from Bellingham, WA to many different cities in Southeast Alaska.

Rated Horsepower:  6500 hp for each engine

Fuel Consumption:  150 Gallons per hour each at 65%load

 

Auxiliary Gensets:  Caterpillar 3512 diesel electric Gensets

Rated Horsepower:  1100 hp for each generator engine

Fuel Consumption: 37 Gallons per hour for each engine at 65% load

Coastal Village Crab, LLC F/V Arctic Sea

This vessel is primarily a Crab Fishing vessel in the Bering Sea.  The Kral Flowmeter Fuel Consumption Management System was installed October 5th 2011.

Single Main Caterpillar 3516  Propulsion Engine

 Rated at 1450 Horsepower

 Fuel Consumption:  64 Gallons per Hour at Full Load

Port and Starboard Cat 3406 Auxiliary Diesel Powered Generators

Rated At 375 Horsepower

Fuel Consumption:  16 Gallons per Hour Each at 65% Load

Flowmeters:

Kral OME20 Series Meters installed on the Supply and Return fuel lines on each engine.

Each Kral Flowmeter equipped with 2- BEG56 Directional Sensors

1- EET13 Temperature Sensor, all units with Junction Boxes

All engines equipped with BEM500 Electronic Display Units

BEM810RD  Remote Display with GPS Interface to provide Operator real time Fuel per Nautical mile display.
